In a report published by Daily Trust on 6 July, two thousand and twenty-five, Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, voiced strong disapproval and deep frustration over what he described as a calculated attempt to undermine and infiltrate the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Shaibu accused certain political actors of orchestrating internal discord from the outset, citing as an example Festus Keyamo’s early suggestion that Peter Obi be handed the ADC presidential ticket — a move he claims was designed to sow division within the newly formed coalition. According to him, the motive behind such actions is transparent and has ultimately failed.
Expanding on his remarks, Shaibu reflected on events from the two thousand and twenty-three elections, asserting that saboteurs were planted within the ADC to destabilize it from within. He alleged that after fraudulently seizing power, these infiltrators shamelessly joined the ruling party in triumph. He stated that they infiltrated us in 2023, and after rigging themselves into power, the vagabonds they planted shamelessly joined them in celebration.
Now, according to Shaibu, similar efforts are being revived, but he believes the public is far more discerning this time around. He said they are at it again, but this time, the people know better.
According to him, “The very day we unveiled our platform, the cock didn’t even crow once before Festus Keyamo let the cat out of the bag—prescribing, without invitation, that Peter Obi should be given the ADC ticket. Not out of goodwill, but as part of a calculated ploy to sow discord, ignite conflict, and break the momentum of unity.
