Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has once again dismissed the possibility of negotiations with the United States, citing a history of hostility and failures in US-Iran relations.
In a statement on his verified Twitter account, Khamenei explained why Iran refuses to engage in dialogue with Washington, asserting that the US has consistently acted against Iran’s interests.
“Why don’t we negotiate with the US?” Khamenei wrote. “Because the US has been defeated in Iran and shows hostility in any way it can.”
This declaration highlights Khamenei’s longstanding criticism of American foreign policy, particularly its approach toward Iran. The Supreme Leader has often accused the US of seeking to undermine the Islamic Republic through sanctions, propaganda, and attempts to isolate the country on the global stage.
Khamenei’s remarks reflect Iran’s broader policy of resistance against Western powers, especially the US, which Tehran views as an adversary seeking to reassert control over the country since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. The revolution ended decades of American influence in Iran under the US-backed Shah, an era frequently condemned by Iranian leaders as a period of subjugation.
