Prince Daniel, an eyewitness, has spoken about the death of a police officer named Aaron John, who was killed by suspected military officers in Taraba State.

In a video shared by Channels Television from 2:41, Daniel said around 9 to 10 p.m., a group of soldiers entered the neighbourhood with sticks. He said they began chasing people and collecting their phones.

Daniel said Officer Aaron John, who had just returned from work, was sitting near a church event center when the soldiers approached him. He said John told the soldiers that he was a policeman but they began to beat him.

Daniel said the soldiers stabbed John twice with a knife as he attempted to seek safety inside a nearby shop. He said John was later taken to the hospital, but he died from his wounds.

In Daniel’s words: “They went to him and they started harassing him. They waved stick, trying to hit him and he told them, ‘What is going on, I am a personnel talk to me’. As a personnel you don’t expect him to run away while civilians are running. Before we knew it they started hitting him from that place till this particular shop behind me. He was trying to run for his life and the soldiers were busy beating him. They prevented him from entering the shop and before we knew it he got stabbed. They stabbed him with one jackknife. After stabbing him he tried to enter the shop and they still stabbed him at his back again”
