Solomon Dalung, a former minister, has shared his views following President Tinubu’s decision to sack some ministers. Dalung expressed his dissatisfaction with the number of officials dismissed, stating that more should have been removed from office.
In a video shared by Channels TV from 5:14, Dalung said that the people who were fired were mostly those without powerful connections or political “godfathers and godmothers.” According to him, this is why they were let go, while other ministers with better political backing remained in office. Dalung mentioned that in his opinion, around 70 percent of the cabinet should have been sacked because their performance has been far below expectations.
In Dalung’s words: “The people that were fired are those who don’t have godfathers and godmothers in the kitchen, that is why they were fired. 70 percent of the cabinet should have been fired. Their performances have been far below expectations looking at the huge budgetary appropriation met to the ministries and yet there is nothing moving on. So I am dissatisfied personally with the number of people fired. The number is too minimal. The majority of the non-performing have either been reassigned or promoted to cabinet rank and they are still there”
