Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the pro-Peter Obi Obidient Movement, had confirmed that the Presidential Candidate from the Labour Party of the just concluded General Election, Peter Obi remained a member of the party, but he was being aggressively pursued by at least seven other political parties ahead of the 2027 elections, disclosing that Obi would announce his final decision on which platform to contest when the time comes.

According to a report by TVC News on Wednesday 6 August, 2025, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement during an interview, boasted that the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi was the most wanted politician in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, highlighting Obi’s soaring popularity among youth and marginalized groups across tribal and religious lines.

He also insisted that his principal was not desperate for power, but committed to rescuing Nigeria from failed leadership, emphasizing that Peter Obi had consistently said it was about making Nigeria work, not personal ambition, dismissing claims that Obi was politically confused.

In his words, Tanko Yunusa said, “Mr. Peter Obi is a member of the Labor Party. In 2027, he’s going to declare where he’s going to run. He made mention that now he is sufficient to say he’s undecided, or he seems confused where to go, whether to go to the left at the moment, now Mr. Peter is being sorted by seven to eight political parties. The point is that the man is the most popular candidate in the country at the moment.”
