According to a report by TVC News today, August 28, 2025. It was released that a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Adetokunbo, has said the only challenge facing the party’s upcoming convention is the threat by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to organize a parallel convention.
Speaking on TVC News, Adetokunbo stated:
“The only thing that appears to be a threat to our convention is Wike saying he’s going to have a parallel convention.”
He explained that Wike’s influence and loyal support base continue to create tension within the party, warning that a parallel convention could weaken the PDP’s unity.
Wike reportedly said he might organize his own separate convention, which would split delegates and weaken the authority of the main PDP gathering.
The PDP convention will bring together delegates from across the country to decide on leadership positions and the party’s future direction.
