Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has stated that it is not true that former Governor of Central Bank and Emir Of Kano, Sanusi Lamido was sacked because he blew a whistle that the federal government lost $49.8 billion.
This statement was contained in a report that was published by DAILY POST on Thursday.
The former President addressed the issue after the Emir of Kano spoke about it at a gathering. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan stated that he wasn’t sacked for whistleblowing. The former President said Sanusi Lamido was suspended because the Financial Reporting Council queried the expenditure of CBN.
He was quoted as saying that;
“The one he raised that he was sacked because he blew a whistle that the Federal Government lost $49.8 billion is not quite correct. He was not sacked, he was suspended because the Financial Reporting Council queried the expenditure of CBN. And there were serious infractions that needed to be looked at. That was the reason. But somehow, the time was short. So before we finished, his tenure elapsed”.
