The Former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Samuel Nwanosike has alleged that the judgment of Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court restricts the installation of caretaker committees by the Rivers state Government. He also stated that the Justice ruled that the laws enacted by the Martins Amaewhule Assembly hold primary authority in Rivers State.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 14:52, ”The judgment of Justice Omotosho says that you must conduct local government election. The judgment of Justice Omotosho says that you must not have a caretaker in Local Government. He also said that the laws made by Martins Amaewhule assembly are the main laws of Rivers State. How then are we impeached as Local Government Chairmen?

This judgment that was given by Justice Omotosho has been given since January 24th and the governor did not appeal it from January till May. The governor went to a state High Court that has no jurisdiction to get an interim injunction to create a crisis in Rivers State.”……Sée Móre
