In a recent outburst on his verified Twitter account, Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), a prominent Nigerian political figure, condemned what he described as a “gratuitous insult on Christianity” at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

FFK expressed strong disapproval of the way Christianity was reportedly demeaned during the event, labeling it as indicative of the “moral, religious, and social degeneration” of Western societies.

FFK argued that had a similar affront been directed at Islam, the response would have been far more severe, suggesting that Paris would have been engulfed in protests. He criticized what he perceives as the passivity of Christians, accusing them of being overly accommodating and passive in the face of such disrespect towards their faith.

In a provocative statement, FFK implied that a more extreme reaction, such as a bombing, could have been justified, though he quickly distanced himself from that suggestion. Instead, he proposed a boycott of the Olympics as a form of protest. According to him, avoiding the Games and refusing to watch them on television would be a more appropriate response.

FFK’s comments reflect a broader frustration with Western cultural and social dynamics, which he argues are deteriorating. He contended that these events in Paris signal the decline of Western civilization and expressed a vision where the influence of Christianity would ultimately prevail globally….Seë_Morë
