During an interview from 0:39 on News Central TV, former Republican mayor Mike Arnold has alleged that the persistence of armed groups in Jos is tied to systemic failures and illicit support networks.
Arnold argued that authorities are aware of the identities and locations of those responsible for violent activities but have failed to take decisive action. His comments come amid ongoing security concerns in Jos and surrounding areas, where communities have continued to grapple with attacks and unrest.
According to him, the situation is being sustained by individuals and structures that benefit from instability, rather than being effectively addressed.
“They know where these terrorists are. They know their names. They could wipe them out if they wanted to, but instead, they call them brothers and sons because they are ideologically in line with them and they benefit from this activity. It is a horrific situation. The innocent people are cannon fodder for their conquest and for their greedy skimming of the resources of the nation,” he said.
Arnold further suggested that addressing the crisis requires political will and a commitment to dismantling the networks that enable violence.
