In a significant political development, Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended Governor of Rivers State, is on the verge of reclaiming his position, following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London.

This comes after his suspension in March 2025, as reported by Punch.

The announcement was bolstered by an endorsement from Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, a prominent Niger Delta leader, who recently spoke on Arise TV from 1:00 , urging Nigerians to allow Tinubu to complete an eight-year tenure. Tompolo emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to democracy, particularly in ensuring Fubara’s return as governor.

The political crisis in Rivers State stems from a deep rift between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Federal Capital Territory Minister.

Tompolo likened their conflict to a “boy and oga” Relationship.

He said “The Truly Elected Governor of Rives State Is Coming Back, The Problem Between Wike And Fubara Is Like Boy And Oga”

According to The Nation, the feud escalated in October 2023 with an impeachment attempt on Fubara by pro-Wike lawmakers, following a fallout over control of the state’s political structure.
