Ralph Nwosu, the founder and first national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has raised concerns about how the ruling party is allegedly trying to weaken a new political alliance. In an interview on Arise Television, Nwosu claimed that certain members of the ADC, especially in Benue and Nasarawa states, are being influenced by the government to destroy the unity of opposition parties.
He pointed out that Elias Adiku, the ADC chairman in Benue State, is now being given special protection by security agents, including three policemen and officers from the Department of State Services (DSS). “The Chairman of Benue State, in the Person of Elias Adiku, today he has about Three policemen, some DSS people guiding him,” he said.
According to Nwosu, Adiku has been seen moving around with these guards and staying in luxury hotels — not for party work, but to reportedly frustrate the opposition coalition’s efforts and woo their members over.
Nwosu also mentioned that the chairman in Nasarawa State, Alaku Godwin, is allegedly working with the same plan, suggesting that the government is using them to take legal action that could disrupt the coalition.
He expressed disappointment, saying that instead of trying to stop others, the government should focus on performing well so that Nigerians would vote for them based on good work.
Nwosu also emphasized that he didn’t want to start calling names or attacking anyone personally. His focus, he said, is on strengthening democracy and allowing fair political competition.
