On April 27, 2025, Sunday Dare, a prominent Nigerian official, took to X to commend the ongoing 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project, comparing it to visionary infrastructure developments in Asia.

The project, initiated in March 2024 under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, aims to connect Nigeria’s western and south-eastern regions, boosting trade and transportation. Dare emphasized its long-term significance, noting that Asian countries invest $881 billion annually in infrastructure, with a projected need of $1.7 trillion per year until 2030, according to the Asian Development Bank (2016-2020 data).

Recent photos shared by A. Ayofe on X reveal significant progress on the highway. The first section, spanning 47km from Ahmadu Bello Way in Lagos to Lekki Deep Seaport, has 30km ready for commissioning by President Tinubu, while 17km is being sand-filled.
