Ahmad Sajoh, former Commissioner for Information in Adamawa State, has exposed the financial hypocrisy of Nigerian states. Speaking on Arise TV, Sajoh revealed that during his tenure, states struggled to pay salaries with meager allocations, often resorting to borrowing. However, with the removal of subsidies, governors now receive a significant N20 billion, yet claim they cannot afford the proposed N62,000 minimum wage.
In a TV video with Arise News from 7:38, Sajoh highlighted the apparent mismanagement of funds and lack of priority given to workers’ welfare, despite increased financial resources. He stated, “When I was in government, the maximum allocation we received was N4 billion, sometimes N2.5 billion. We often borrowed to augment salaries, but today, governors receive up to N20 billion, yet claim they cannot pay.”
Sajoh’s statement exposes the financial contradictions in Nigerian states, where increased resources have not translated to better welfare for workers. His revelation has sparked concerns about the management of state funds and the priority given to workers’ welfare….Sée Móre
