During an interview with Arise Television, Taofik Raimi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke about the political future of Nigeria’s regions after President Bola Tinubu’s tenure, projecting a return of power to the North before the South-East or South-South can produce a president.

Raimi explained that recent defections from the South-South and South-East into the APC may be part of a strategic alignment by politicians from these regions who are positioning themselves for future leadership opportunities.

According to him, “South-south and southeast, after 8 years of President Tinubu, the power will go to the North. By the time the North covers their own time and it comes back to the south, it’ll be that it’s either the southeast or south-south that will produce the next president. And these people that are defecting now, from the south and southeast, I’m seeing clearly. I see a vision that they’re preparing that they cannot become the president of this country if they do not identify with national politics.”
