Governor Siminalayi Fubara recently expressed his willingness to collaborate with Mustapha Bala, the new Rivers State Commissioner of Police, when Bala and his management team paid him a visit.
In a live coverage by Symfoni TV from 5:22, Fubara said some of the officers who Bala came with had used tear gas and water cannons on him (Fubara) in the past. However, he emphasized that these past events should be left behind. He stressed that their joint priority should be the safety and security of Rivers State. He stated that if the state remains safe, both the police officers and the citizens benefit.
Fubara also mentioned that it had been a long time since he had the chance to meet with the police management team
In Fubara’s words: “Some of you shot me teargas, some of you used hot water on me. But that one is in the past. Today I want us to start a new relationship, please bygone is bygone. Let us work as one to protect the interest of Rivers State. If Rivers State is safe you as a police officer you are safe”
