General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, has shared the challenges faced by the rescued Chibok schoolgirls, especially those who returned with pregnancies or children.

In a video shared by Channels TV from 24:24, General Musa disclosed that many of the girls rescued by the military struggle to fit back into their communities. He revealed that during his time as theater commander, 11 of the girls were rescued, but reintegrating them has been difficult. He explained that the communities are unwilling to accept the girls and often label them as “Boko Haram wives” or call their children “Boko Haram children.”

General Musa mentioned that this rejection makes the girls feel unwelcome and isolated. He stated that some of the rescued girls have expressed frustration, saying that if they are going to be treated this way, they might as well return to the bush. Musa emphasized that the military is still working to help them reintegrate and feel accepted in society.

In General Musa’s words: “With the Chibok Girls, the challenge we are having is some of them are pregnant and some of them have given birth, they have kids. When I was theater commander I brought about 11 of them, we were able to rescue 11 of them. Now, them fitting back into the community is a big issue and that is what we are still working on.

“You take them in and the community doesn’t want to relate with them or have anything to do with them and they keep on calling them Boko Haram wives and Boko Haram children”
