In relation to the murder of seven alleged kidnappers in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of the State, Edo State Police Command announced on Friday that 14 suspects had been taken into custody. Moses Yamu, the Command’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement provided to reporters in Benin on Friday.
According to the DAILY POST Newspaper, Yamu, who verified the incident, stated that the command denounced the traveler victims’ deaths. According to him, on March 27, 2025, 16 out of 25 Port-Harcourt travelers were attacked at UduneEfandion Community, which is located along the Uromi/Obajana Expressway in Edo State. He said, two of the 16 travelers who suffered various degrees of injuries were taken to a hospital and are now responding favorably to treatment, while the other 10 were saved. He said,
“The incident happened when some vigilante group members attacked a truck carrying 25 passengers from Elele, a Rivers State suburb, at Uromi. Some of the passengers were arrested after being found in possession of locally made Dane guns.” The truck’s registration number was KKF 225 XA, and it was traveling from Port Harcourt. While this was going on, some vigilante members expressed concern that they might be kidnappers. As a result, some community members and bystanders attacked and lynched sixteen (16) of the occupants, and the truck carrying them was also set on fire. After learning of the incident, police officers from the Uromi Division quickly stormed the scene, rescuing two of the ten (10) travelers. You can click the button below for more news.
