Nigerian reality TV star and media personality Uriel Oputa has sparked serious conversation online after sharing her views on what she believes is stopping many Nigerian women from settling down, according to report by VANGUARD on Sunday July 27, 2025.
Speaking on a podcast called NIX Outside The Box, Uriel didn’t hold back as she pointed out that many men in Nigeria have a mindset that makes it hard for relationships to last.
She explained that it’s common for Nigerian men to feel like one woman isn’t enough for them. According to her, this way of thinking has made it tough for women especially those aged 35 and above to find loving and committed partners. Uriel stressed that this issue isn’t about women lacking anything, because many are smart, attractive, and successful. The real problem, she said, is the belief among men that there’s always someone better out there.
Her words,
“You see some women in Nigeria now, from 35 to 40 and even older, and they’re still single. I’m talking about beautiful, intelligent women. Why? It’s because it’s hard to find a decent man in Nigeria these days. It all boils down to this culture we have — this idea that there’s always something better out there. But the truth is, there’s nothing better.”
