Hassan Yabanet, the Commissioner of Police in Benue, has spoken about the recent cult clash in the Wadata area that led to multiple deaths. While parading ten suspected cultists, he explained that on Sunday, February 9, at around 3:30 p.m., the police received information about renewed cult activities in the area.

Speaking in a video shared by NTA from 0:55, Yabanet disclosed that members of the Black Axe cult had gone for a meeting across the riverbank, unaware that another cult group was also holding a meeting at the same location. He said both groups clashed, resulting in the deaths of some people.

In Yabanet’s words: “On Sunday which is 9th of February at about 3:30 pm information was received about renewed cult activities in the Wadata area. Some members of the black axe cult went for a meeting across the river bank not knowing that the other cult group were having a meeting there. So when they went there, they clashed and it resulted to the death of three persons”
