Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has intensified concerns over ritual-related crimes, alleging a link between certain native doctors and the disappearance of young girls in the state.

Speaking during an interview from 1:55 on Channels Television, the governor defended his administration’s crackdown on some traditional practitioners, including figures such as Akwa Okuko, amid growing public debate.

Soludo, while explaining the rationale behind the government’s actions, said: “Young children are disappearing especially little girls because they need virgin to do one juju or the other.” The governor described the situation as deeply troubling, suggesting that criminal elements are exploiting traditional beliefs to carry out heinous acts.

He noted that the alleged demand for ritual materials has contributed to a rise in cases of missing children, particularly young girls, across parts of Anambra. According to him, these developments have made it necessary for the state government to intervene decisively to prevent further loss of innocent lives.

The governor emphasized that his administration is not targeting genuine traditional worshippers but rather individuals who engage in unlawful activities under the guise of spirituality. He added that security agencies have been directed to thoroughly investigate suspected cases and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted.
