According to a report by the Punch News on November 23, 2025, Muhammad Dantani, the District Head of Maga in the Danko/Wasagu local government area, has recounted the attack by bandits on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School. He said that soldiers deployed to the school left around 1am, just a short time before the bandits’ attack started.

Muhammad Dantani recounted a shocking turn of events: soldiers guarding the school left their post around 1 a.m., just before bandits attacked. Despite confirming they were still on duty at midnight, the soldiers vanished, leaving residents wondering who gave the order and why.

He said the police took cover as the bandits arrived, citing overwhelming numbers and firepower, which would have meant certain death if they engaged. The attackers’ firepower and sheer numbers were just too much.
