Security expert Kabiru Adamu has spoken about the recent killings in Edo State, where 16 travelers were set on fire by a mob.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Adamu said that in Islam, killing someone by burning is strictly forbidden, which is why the method of execution in this case caused widespread outrage. He said when images and videos of the incident spread on social media, it deeply angered many people, particularly Muslims in Kano and other parts of the north. Adamu stated that this was the main reason why people in the north got very angry and almost carried out a reprisal attack.

In Adamu’s word: “Most persons who are not Muslims may not understand why people from Kano and Muslims in particular would be angered to the extent that they are angry about this situation. It is because using fire to kill is something that Islamically is completely disallowed.
