The governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara has reacted after it was reported that another explosion has rocked the oil and gas facility in Rivers State.

His statement was contained in a report that was published on the official X handle of NEWS CENTRAL TV on Monday.

This is coming after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended the Rivers state governor, his deputy, Ngozi Odu and all members of the Rivers state House of Assembly. It is no longer news that after the President suspended the Rivers state governor, he replaced him with Ibokette Ibas.

Reacting to the recent gas explosion in Rivers state, Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi described the report as baseless.

In the report that surfaced online, he said the videos that are currently being circulated online are fake.

He however, distanced the Rivers state governor from any association with militants or people who are bent on disrupting the peace of Rivers state.

He was quoted as saying that;

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group. Does not contemplate any such association and has no reason to encourage any criminal group or elements, anywhere in the state or Niger Delta, to undertake any action inimical to the peace of the people”.
