Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder and senior pastor of Salvation Ministries International, has challenged a popular saying that suggests inequality is part of God’s plan for people.
During a recent sermon streamed on YouTube, he boldly declared that the statement “all fingers are not equal” has no biblical basis and is often used to justify poverty.
“If you show me one verse that says all fingers are not equal, I will not read the Bible again,” Ibiyeomie said to the congregation. “There is no place in the Bible where God said all fingers are not equal.”
Ibiyeomie expressed concern over how many Christians accept poverty as their fate, mistakenly believing it is divinely ordained. He argued that such beliefs are rooted in ignorance, not Scripture. “If fingers are not equal, why not you be the longest one?” he asked rhetorically, challenging his listeners to reject mediocrity and embrace God’s promises of prosperity.
He cited Daniel 9:2 as an example of how discovering truth through study can change a person’s life. “Daniel understood by books,” he noted, referring to how the prophet discovered God’s plan for Israel by reading Jeremiah’s prophecy. Ibiyeomie urged Christians to follow Daniel’s example by studying the Bible to uncover God’s promises for themselves.
The pastor emphasized that poverty, sickness, and failure are not God’s will for believers. “When you read the Word and see that God wants you rich, you will reject poverty. When you discover that God already took your infirmities, you will tell sickness to leave your body.”
According to Ibiyeomie, ignorance of Scripture leads to spiritual defeat. “Anything contrary to God’s Word in your life must go, but you have to know what the Word says,” he concluded.
