Senator Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former federal lawmaker has taken to his official X handle to react after the Chadian parliament scrapped term limits for the president. According to his statements which drew widespread attention from the general public, he asked if Chad was finished.
Many were left stunned after the Chadian parliament scrapped presidential term limits in favor of incumbent president, Mahamat Idris Deny. The new law, will enable the president to rule as long as he wished.
However, not many were impressed with the ruling after the announcement was made available to the general public, drawing a flurry of mixed reactions from the global community.
Reacting, Senator Shehu Sani, a respected Nigerian lawmaker and renowned human rights activist in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, however, used the opportunity to throw a subtle jab.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the parliament decided to scrap term limits for President Idris, which meant he will rule as long as he wished.
Strikingly, he asked if Chad was finished. This, was a reference to a lamentation from a former Nigerian governor who decried the actions of those in power, pointing out that Nigeria was finished as a result of unchecked policies.
