Former Nigerian Senator Shehu Sani has expressed his dismay following the news of the arrest of 80 Nigerians by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States.

The update, which was shared by an outlet specialized in documenting African stories, Africa Archive and garnered widespread attention, detailed that these individuals had been under investigation for several years due to their involvement in various criminal activities. Upon hearing this, Sani responded on his verified Twitter account with a single word: “Sad.”

The FBI’s operation, which has now resulted in the arrest of these suspects, is part of a broader initiative to crack down on transnational criminal networks. Many of the individuals arrested are accused of being part of fraud schemes that have targeted individuals and businesses across the globe, bringing negative attention to Nigeria and its citizens.

Shehu Sani’s reaction highlights the frustration shared by many Nigerians who are concerned about how such criminal acts affect the country’s international reputation. His response, though brief, speaks to the deep disappointment in the actions of a few that continue to reflect poorly on the millions of hardworking and law-abiding Nigerians.
