One of the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Kaduna lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani has reacted after the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike said he will start taking out beggars in Abuja.
According to THE CABLE, the FCT Minister said from Monday, he will start removing beggars from the roads in Abuja.
He was quoted as saying that;
“It is embarrassing that people will come in, the first thing they see are just beggars on the road. Sometimes too, they may not be beggars, they may be criminals pretending to be beggars. We will not allow that.
“So I’m giving you a public order from now to Sunday, from Monday we will pack them out. Let us know that we have a city that we can call a city, it’s very embarrassing”.
However, Senator Shehu Sani has now reacted to the report, in a post that he shared on his official X handle on what, he said chasing out beggars from Abuja is like hiding a sickness instead of curing it.
Here is what Shehu Sani wrote on his page;
“Chasing out beggars from Abuja is like hiding our sickness instead of curing it or hiding our laundry instead of cleaning it. The Abuja beggars don’t tarnish our image, they represent our hidden images that we don’t want the world to see”.
