Senator Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former Kaduna central senatorial district lawmaker recently reacted after it was announced that Simon Ekpa has bagged six years in prison in Finland. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that he remembered his predicament.
The news regarding the conviction and sentence of Simon Ekpa, a supposed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra in Finland generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
Simon Ekpa, standing trial over charges of terrorism financing and other related offences was found guilty and sentenced to six years in prison. The sentencing was met with diverse reactions amongst Nigerians and the global community.
Reacting, Senator Shehu Sani, a respected human rights activist and former federal lawmaker in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, made a remarkable comment regarding his own predicament while serving out a prison term in Aba, Abia State.
According to his statements, he pointed out that the reports of Simon Ekpa’s incarceration brought back memories of when he was released from detention in 1998 after serving four years of his fifteen jail term.
The lawmaker, known for his humor, pointed out that he hoped Simon Ekpa will not be fed with Garri as breakfast, lunch and dinner same way he was fed at the Aba prison.
