One of the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and former Kaduna lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani has reacted after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said he was among those who protested during the military regime.

The statement was contained in a report that was posted on the official X handle of SAHARA REPORTERS.

The statement is coming following the nationwide protests that has been scheduled to begin on August 1.

President Tinubu said during the military era, he was part of the group that engaged in peaceful protests.

The president was quoted as saying;

“During the military era, I was part of the group that made our voices heard through peaceful protests, without resorting to destruction.  In as much as we believe that demonstrations are part of democracy, we will never encourage any protests that lead to the destruction of lives and property”.
