In the wake of a significant military operation against bandits in Katsina State, Nigeria, former Senator Shehu Sani has expressed commendation for the Armed Forces’ efforts. The recent aerial bombardment of a notorious bandits’ camp in the region resulted in a major victory against the terrorist elements plaguing the area.
Sani took to his verified Twitter account to voice his approval and also critique the ongoing strategies employed to manage bandit activities.
In his tweet, Sani stated: “The recent success recorded by the Armed Forces over the aerial bombardment of Bandits Camp in Katsina State is commendable. Eliminating the terrorists is the way out. The appeasing strategy of ‘allowing convoy of armed bandits on motorcycles to pass if they have not attacked anyone’ has only emboldened the murderous criminals.”
Sani’s remarks highlight his support for the decisive actions taken by the military in addressing the persistent threat of banditry in Katsina. The operation, which involved targeted airstrikes on the bandits’ stronghold, is seen as a significant step towards restoring peace and security in the region. For years, bandit groups have terrorized communities in Katsina and other parts of Nigeria, engaging in kidnappings, killings, and other forms of violence.
However, Sani’s commendation is coupled with a sharp critique of what he describes as an appeasement strategy towards the bandits. He argues that allowing armed bandits on motorcycles to move freely if they haven’t attacked anyone has only served to embolden them.
This policy, intended to minimize direct confrontations and potentially reduce violence, is seen by Sani as a counterproductive approach that provides these criminals with a sense of impunity…..Sée Móre
