The family member of Anas Ahmadu, his seven-month pregnant wife, Halimat, and their daughter, Jidda Anas, who were abducted in Filin Canada Quarters, in the Sabuwar Unguwa area, has revealed that when they gained access into the house, Halimat locked herself in the toilet while her husband tried to escape through the back door, but they were kidnapped with their daughter, Jidda Anas.
According to a report by the Daily Trust News on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the family said, “She locked herself in the toilet when she realised they were about to break into the house, while the husband tried to escape through the back door, but he was unable to. They broke in, bundled the husband, forced the toilet door open and abducted them, including their two-year-old daughter.”
The family recounted a harrowing incident where seven gunmen scaled the fence of their house and pounded on the entrance door, demanding to be let in. In a desperate bid to seek help, the wife quickly placed a distress call to a vigilante member, who responded promptly. Tragically, however, other bandits lying in wait ambushed and fatally shot the vigilante.
It was said that when the gunmen were about to break in, Halimat locked herself in the toilet in a desperate bid to escape. Meanwhile, her husband attempted to flee through the back door but was unsuccessful. The intruders forcibly entered the house, overpowered the husband, and broke open the toilet door. They then abducted both parents along with their two-year-old daughter.
Another source close to the kidnapped family said that Halimat’s husband, Anas Ahmadu, is a businessman, but his wife, Halimat, is the daughter of Alhaji Usman Turare, an independent petroleum marketer. This makes him feel the wife is the likely target since she is from a rich family.
