The Former Senator who represented the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Sani, has reacted to the reported plan to introduce single currency known as ‘Eco’ in the West African subregion.
While reacting, Senator Shehu Sani made it known that a common West African currency known as ‘Eco’ will finally bring an end to our local currencies in the West African subregion. He went on and made it known that for over four decades, West African subregion has successfully maintained a common examination body, the WAEC, thereby stating it clearly that we can aswell achieve a common currency.
Senator Shehu Sani made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Sunday morning, while reacting to the report.
He wrote: A common West African currency, Eco will finally bring an end to our local currencies, in the subregion. For over a decade we have successfully maintained a common examination body, the WAEC, we can achieve that with a common currency.”
Recall that it was recently reported that the finance ministers and the Central Bank governors of the 15 Economic Community of West African States have advanced plans to launch the single currency initiative, known as the ECO.
