According to a report by Al Jazeera, in response to the United States’ recent airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Saudi Arabia has urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that could further destabilize the region.
The Kingdom issued a formal statement through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, expressing “deep concern” over the escalating situation following U.S. precision strikes on Iran’s key nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is following with deep concern the developments in the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly the targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities by the United States of America,” the statement read.
Saudi Arabia’s government emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate the growing tensions and called on the global community to intensify diplomatic efforts to prevent the crisis from spiraling into wider conflict.
The ministry’s statement underscored the importance of international cooperation to secure a peaceful resolution, stating the need to “exercise restraint,” reduce tensions, and “prevent further escalation.”
It also urged nations to recommit to dialogue and work toward a sustainable political solution that would ensure regional stability and security.
The remarks come amid mounting concerns in the Gulf and across the Middle East over the implications of renewed U.S.-Iran hostilities, following President Donald Trump’s announcement that the strikes were a “spectacular military success” and his warning that further actions could follow if Iran does not “make peace.”
