A Nigerian Senate dispute over seating arrangements has escalated into a major controversy following Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations of sêxual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Former Senator Shehu Sani responded on X, stating, “From seats to bed, need for caution.” urging restraint as tensions rise.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, claims her troubles began after rejecting Akpabio’s inappropriate advances. She alleges this led to retaliation, including blocked motions and unfair treatment in the Senate. What started as a minor disagreement has now sparked a national debate about power dynamics and accountability in Nigeria’s legislature.

Sani, a prominent human rights activist and former senator, is known for his outspokenness on governance issues.

His comment reflects concern over the potential fallout of these allegations, which have yet to be formally addressed by Akpabio or the Senate leadership.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s accusations have drawn mixed reactions, with some calling for an investigation and others questioning the timing of her claims.
