Dr. Sandra Musa, a key figure in Kogi State, has shared her thoughts on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension from the National Assembly.
According to an interview on TVC News from 18:57, Dr. Musa, she has always maintained a neutral stance towards Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, neither harboring hatred nor extreme admiration for her.
Dr. Musa acknowledged that having women in positions of power is a source of pride, and Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return to her constituency is a decision left to the people.
Dr. Musa expressed concern over the six-month suspension, emphasizing that a simple apology could have resolved the issue.
She recalled that the initial controversy stemmed from the change in Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat, which was not an isolated incident, as about five other senators’ seats were also changed.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension was approved by the Senate following a report by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions, which found her guilty of misconduct and violating Senate Standing Rules.
In her words, “I have always been indifferent about her, she has never hurt me, neither has she done anything to me, so I can’t hate her. I can’t say that I extremely like her, but you know most times when you have women in place of power, it’s always your joy that they bring you a trophy. Having her to come back home, it has always been her constituency’s decision. What is our major concern, is that six months that she would not be in office. And if you would agree me with, just a simple apology would have taken this off. It was the seat issue that we first knew about, before any other thing. And we know that it was not only her seat that was changed, about five senators seats were changed.”
