According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the media team of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of misleading Nigerians about the true state of insecurity in the country.
In a statement on Monday, the team said President Tinubu did not inherit insecurity, as claimed by his supporters, but rather inherited political power from his own party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), which ruled Nigeria for eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the team, the APC government cannot separate itself from the consequences of its own failures.
They said insecurity worsened across the country during Buhari’s tenure, with terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping becoming daily occurrences.
They argued that it is dishonest for the Tinubu administration to act as though the crisis began after it assumed office.
Instead, they said, the APC should accept responsibility for the chaos it created while in power since 2015.
The statement further noted that the ruling party is now using the same tactics it used under Buhari, spreading propaganda to hide its weaknesses.
The team said the government’s “Renewed Hope” slogan is only a recycled version of the promises made during the Buhari years, which brought disappointment and hardship.
It added that Nigerians are no longer deceived by political slogans or false narratives designed to shift blame.
The people, they said, have seen the results of the APC’s long years in power rising insecurity, economic hardship, and growing public distrust.
“Let us be clear President Tinubu did not inherit insecurity; he inherited government power after his party spent eight years worsening insecurity under Muhammadu Buhari.
The same propaganda that masked Buhari’s incompetence is now being repackaged under the banner of ‘Renewed Hope,’ but Nigerians are not deceived,” he said. View, More,
