Former Governor of Rivers State, Chief Rufus Ada-George, has spoken about the political feud between former Governor Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
He said that the situation should be handled carefully to prevent it from escalating into a major crisis. He also said that conflicts like this, if not properly managed, could lead to serious crisis in the state.
Speaking in a video shared by Symfoni TV from 7:23, Ada-George said that the political conflict going on in Rivers is similar to what led to the 1962 crisis in Western Nigeria. He urged all those involved in the Rivers State crisis to be mindful of their words and actions to prevent history from repeating itself. He expressed hope that Rivers State, being a state blessed by God, would find a peaceful way to resolve its issues.
In Ada-George’s words: “We appeal to all those who are involved in this matter to be cautious of what they say because if not checked, probably what happened in 1962 of which a prominent son of that area has warned recently that we should be careful, this is how the crisis start (sic). We pray that no such crisis will happen in Rivers State. We believe that Rivers State is a God blessed state and God will guide us to ensure that we resolve all the problems”
