In a recent interview on Echo 360 TV, Hilda Dokubo, the Labour Party Chairman in Rivers State, expressed strong opposition to the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the six-month suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy.
Dokubo criticized President Bola Tinubu’s decision, arguing that there was no breakdown of law and order to justify such drastic action. She described the move as biased, questioning why Rivers State was singled out when other states facing security challenges had not received similar treatment.
Despite the political turbulence, she praised Governor Fubara for his achievements since assuming office. She highlighted his efforts in improving infrastructure, prompt payment of workers’ salaries, and his commitment to uniting the state. According to her, the people, especially the women of Rivers State, have been interceding in prayers for the governor, believing that his leadership is a step toward good governance.
Dokubo also addressed the issue of corruption in the state, calling for accountability and transparency. She urged the people of Rivers State to rally behind Fubara, emphasizing, “We have found one good man, let’s hold on to him.”
