Former Rivers State Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu, has stated that the ongoing political crisis in the state is unrelated to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
During an interview with Arise TV from 16:04, Worlu expressed his frustration over repeated attempts to link Wike to the situation.
He emphasized that Wike was not involved in the legal disputes concerning the Rivers State government, nor was he responsible for the conflicts between the State Assembly and the Executive, which ultimately led to the burning of the Assembly and subsequent court cases.
Worlu further explained that the crisis is an internal matter within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as both the Assembly members and the governor belong to the same party. He noted that such disputes should have been resolved internally rather than escalating into a larger conflict.
He said, “This whole thing that happened has nothing to do with [Nyesom Wike] the former governor, who is now the FCT Minister. It has nothing to do with him. I hate it when people call his name and try to suggest that… He didn’t go to court with the government of Rivers State. The Assembly and the Executive had issues, and that was what led to the burning of the Assembly, and that was what led to the issues that went to court. Wike was never in court with anybody. It was a PDP matter. The Assembly is made up of purely PDP people; the governor is also PDP. If they had issues, you would have expected that it would have been solved in-house. But instead, what happened?”
