The crisis in Rivers State has sparked intense debate, with commentator Elvis Donkemezuo weighing in on the escalating tensions between Governor Sim Fubara and the state House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule.

According to an interview on Arise News from 12:44, Donkemezuo stated that the solution lies in the governor reaching out to the assembly members.

He cited the example of Speaker Amaewhule, who allegedly lived in a rented apartment while serving the governor’s interests.

Donkemezuo believes that the governor’s approach has been misguided, with some individuals advising him to take actions that are not in his best interest.

He emphasized that the assembly members have been loyal to the governor, with some, like Speaker Amaewhule, making personal sacrifices for the governor’s benefit.

Donkemezuo questioned what benefits these assembly members have gained from their loyalty, given the current crisis.

He warned that when former Governor Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara eventually settle their differences, those who have cast doubt on the governor’s authority may find themselves in a difficult position.

In his words, “I think the best solution is for the governor to reach out to these people, in fact, as I tell you categorically, some of these people, like even the speaker, as I was made to understand, was living in rented apartment while he was doing the governor’s bidding. So what has he benefited in the crossfire of this issue, and mind you, one day Wike and Fubara will settle, those that have come to cast doubt on this person will now be in the crossfire.”
