In an interview with Arise News FROM 3:58, Jake Epelle, CEO and Founder of TAF Africa, condemned the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, blaming it on the personal ambitions of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

He expressed disappointment over the situation, emphasizing that the people of Rivers State are the ones suffering due to the prolonged power struggle. Epelle called for a responsible approach to governance, urging both leaders to put aside their differences and prioritize the well-being of the citizens.

Speaking on the recent Supreme Court judgment affecting Rivers State, Epelle stressed the need for a clearer interpretation. He noted that while the ruling was explicit about withholding federal allocations, it did not clearly reinstate the sacked Local Government Chairmen or clarify the legal standing of the 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike.

He argued that misinterpretation of the judgment could worsen the already tense situation, urging stakeholders to focus on its practical and enforceable aspects rather than using it to fuel further political conflict.

“These two individuals are causing us pain as a result of their political ambitions and I’m taken aback by what’s happening. We need to understand this judgment. Number one, I know for sure, and I don’t need an IQ of a mushroom to interpret that judgment. The judgment did not reinstate the former Local Government Chairmen, it wasn’t explicit on that. The judgment is withholding allocation, that’s pure and very implementable. The judgment has not been very clear on the position of these 27 lawmakers,” Epelle stated.
