Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker Rivers State House of Assembly, has stated that Rivers State does not currently have an attorney-general. He said anyone dealing with Mr. Iboroma Dagogo in that capacity is doing so at their own risk. He also said that Dagogo does not hold the legal authority to act as the state’s attorney general.

Speaking in a video shared by Viable Television, Amaewhule said Governor Siminalayi Fubara is still parading certain individuals as commissioners in the state executive council, even though they were never screened or confirmed by the House of Assembly (Amaewhule-led assembly) as required by the constitution. He stated that, according to the law, they are not legitimate commissioners of Rivers State. Instead, he described them as impostors.

In Amaewhule’s words: “Rivers State doesn’t have an attorney-general, those dealing with Mr Iboroma Dagogo should know that they are doing so at their own risk. All those who Governor Fubara is still parading in the state executive council as commissioners who were never screened or confirmed by this assembly pursuant to section 192 subsection 2 of the 1999 constitution are not commissioners of Rivers, they are impostors”
