Asukewe Ikoawaji, a member of the Rivers Elders Forum has stated that after the upcoming local government elections in Rivers State, Governor Sim Fubara will know if he stands a good chance of winning re-election in 2027.
In a video recently shared by Arise TV from 14:09, Ikoawaji said the political crisis in Rivers are distractions aimed at derailing Fubara’s focus on delivering results to the people. He said that Fubara’s priority should be on making sure the citizens feel the benefits of good governance.
Ikoawaji stated that the LGA election will serve as a crucial test for Governor Fubara. According to him, the results of these elections could give an indication of whether Fubara will get re-elected as governor for second term or not.
In Ikoawaji’s words: “The most important thing is that Fubara has to deliver dividends of democracy. I said it before that all these squabbles are going on to distract governor Fubara and he should not allow himself to be distracted. This LGA election is a case study. By the end of this election even Fubara will know whether he is coming back in 2027 or not”
