In a recent post on his official X handle, Saturday, July 5, 2025, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, highlighted a major milestone achieved under the current administration. He cited the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC)’s 2024 report as evidence of unprecedented economic progress.
According to the report, Nigeria’s revenue from the upstream petroleum sector jumped from ₦4.3 trillion in 2023 to an astonishing ₦12.2 trillion in 2024—marking a 176.7% increase in just one year.
Onanuga stressed that such massive growth had never been recorded, not even during the 16 years of PDP’s leadership. He argued that while some opposition groups keep shouting for change, the Tinubu administration is busy delivering results that speak for themselves.
He described critics as a “coalition of hate” bent on misleading the public and undermining visible progress. “These are people stuck in political bitterness,” he wrote, “yet the facts are staring them in the face.”
The presidential aide urged Nigerians to look beyond propaganda and focus on data-backed achievements. He added that other agencies like the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) are also hitting historic revenue highs.
“Revenue jumped 176% under Tinubu, what more proof do you need?” Onanuga asked, throwing the challenge to doubters while defending what he calls “a government of results, not excuses.”
