Ben Agande, Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Veritas University has revealed a disturbing case of examination malpractice involving collusion between a staff member and a student at the Catholic institution.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News from 4:37, Agande disclosed how the staff member actively coached a student on evading consequences after being caught cheating during examinations, representing a serious breach of academic integrity.
“A student was caught and he was given an incident form to fill and she told the student to fill a wrong name. That way, there will be no way to trace him,” Agande explained during the broadcast.
The revelation exposes a calculated attempt to undermine the university’s disciplinary processes. By instructing the student to provide false identification on official documentation, the staff member sought to make it impossible for authorities to properly investigate and sanction the offender.
Veritas University, based in Abuja, has built its reputation on maintaining strict academic and moral standards as a Catholic institution. The disclosure has sent shockwaves through the university community, raising concerns about potential systemic issues in examination oversight and staff integrity.
The use of incident forms is standard procedure at Nigerian universities when examination malpractice is detected. These forms serve as official records that trigger investigations and appropriate disciplinary measures. Tampering with such documentation fundamentally undermines the academic integrity framework that universities depend upon to maintain standards.
University administrators have not disclosed whether other similar incidents may have occurred or how many students might have benefited from such fraudulent assistance before the staff member was caught. See, More, Here>>>
