Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-President Jonathan, has declined to comment on mourning calls for his former principal to contest the 2027 Presidential election. Speaking during an interview on Friday, Omokri cited his deep personal loyalty to Jonathan as the reason for his silence.

I have an unconditional love for president Jonathan, and so I will not criticize or give an opinion on anything he does on live television, Omokri stated. He highlighted their close relationship, nothing, This is a man who came to California and spent ten days with me and my family.

Jonathan served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015, assuming office after the death of President Musa Yar Adua. He ran for re-election in 2015 but was defeated by Muhammad Buhari. A decade after leaving office, Jonathan is facing growing pressure from chieftain of the opposition People Democratic party (PDP) to join the party and contest the 2027 Presidential election.
