A recent viral video featuring Remi Tinubu, the wife of Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has caused a stir on social media. In the video, nurses and midwives were seen reacting in an unpleasant manner during her visit. The controversy began when the nurses altered a song that was originally meant to honor the First Lady, performing it in a way that many found inappropriate.

The video quickly went viral, prompting widespread reactions. However, the Delta State Government has come forward to clarify the situation and address the misunderstandings. A representative of the Delta State Government explained that the video did not accurately reflect the full context of the event.

“We now noticed that there was a viral video that tends to communicate messages that are variance with what the scenario of that moment,” the representative stated. He further explained that after delivering a speech about the gifts to be distributed to midwives in the South-South region, Mrs. Tinubu reassured the nurses that their packages would be given to them at a later date. “The wife of the president apologized to nurses because this particular giveaway was meant for the midwives and not the nurses,” he added.

The representative’s statement aimed to clarify that the discomfort expressed by the nurses was due to confusion rather than any intentional disrespect. The First Lady had tried to maintain goodwill by encouraging the nurses not to feel upset about not receiving their gifts at that time.

While the video caused a significant amount of controversy, the Delta State Government’s explanation sheds light on the situation, suggesting that the events were misunderstood. The government clarified that no ill intent was behind Mrs. Tinubu’s actions and that the miscommunication likely led to the nurses’ reaction.
