Fomer Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Waziri Atiku Abubakar has sent a message to the governor of Zamfara state, Dauda Lawal after Zamfara state emerged as the top performing Northern state in NECO.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, Zamfara state has emerged as the top-performing Northern state and second in the whole of Nigeria in the National Examination Council (NECO) entrance exams for gifted students.

The announcement was made by the spokesperson of the Zamfara state governor. He said;

“For the first time, Zamfara State is excelling on the national stage, marking a significant shift from its usual place at the bottom regarding performance hierarchy. NECO organises the ‘Gifted Examination’ for admission into the Federal Government Academy Suleja for gifted and talented children. Only final year primary school pupils under 11 years old are eligible to take the exam by December of the examination year”.

Reacting to the report after it surfaced online, Atiku Abubakar congratulated the governor of Zamfara state. In the post that he shared on his official X handle on Sunday, he said the state must have done a lot of work to achieve the result.

Here is what Atiku Abubakar wrote on his official X handle;

“I know that a lot of hard work would have gone into turning things around in Zamfara. If Zamfara can do it, then other states in the North can turn things around education-wise. Congratulations to Governor Dauda Lawal and all the officials and agencies who brought about this transformation”.
