Many Nigerians have taken to social media to speak their mind after Bashir El-Rufai claimed that some people must die before Nigeria can be great.
The son of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, claimed that even though he believes that Nigeria can be a better country, this will not be achieved until a few individuals are dead.
Daily Post reported that Bashir made this known in a recent post on his official X handle.
He said, “Nigeria can become great again. Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on context) a few certain people have to kpai to achieve this dream.”
Meanwhile, the statement did not go down well with many Nigerians who wasted no time in reacting to it. Many commenters reminded Bashir that his father is, without a doubt, among those responsible for the current state of the country.
They, therefore, claimed that for Nigeria to be a better country, some people, including Bashir’s father, need to die.
@Undiluted_Ola said, “Your dad is leading in this one and definitely first that needs to make way for the new generation.”
@legendchild2019 wrote, “Your father must be among those that will kpai.”
In his reaction, @iam_YoungShozy said Bashir would never hand over his father as one of those to be sacrificed for Nigeria’s greatness. He added that it’s clear that he’s already following in his father’s footsteps.
“Hand over your dear dad, he’s part of the system that brought us to this point. But I’m sure you can’t because you’re already following in his footsteps, you can’t acknowledge his flaws,” he claimed.
However, Bashir replied to the message, claiming that he has always disagreed with his father on certain views.
“Anyone that knows me knows I wholeheartedly acknowledge his flaws, furthermore I often disagree with many of his views. That is the sort of family I was raised in,” Bashir replied.
